Commercial video production brings the creative idea, production plan and final advertising formats together. NaF+ works with brands and agencies on films built around a defined audience, message and campaign brief. Bring an approved concept, a script in development or a production challenge, and we can discuss the right scope for your team.
A TV commercial and a social campaign may share a shoot, but they can need different framing, pacing, sound and approvals. We plan those requirements together so the production conversation starts with what you actually need to deliver.
Production shaped around your team
Some clients arrive with a creative agency and an approved treatment. Others need help deciding how an idea should become a film. Establishing who owns the concept, script, production and approval process keeps those responsibilities clear.
NaF+BrandFilms provides commercial production. For projects that already have a production company and need local support, NaF+WWServices (NEEDaFIXER) offers a different route. Our adidas Formotion project credits Creative Blood as agency/production and NaF+WWServices as film services. The role should be explicit from the first conversation.
From brief to delivery
Brief and creative approach
Start with the audience, the one message the film must communicate and the action you want viewers to take. Add target markets, launch dates, media placements and a working budget. Our video brief template helps you collect those decisions before requesting a proposal.
Pre-production and filming
The treatment and script inform the practical plan: cast, locations, crew, equipment, scheduling and the shoot. Agree the essential shots and the deliverables they must support before production begins. Location access, travel and product availability belong in that plan too.
Post-production and finishing
Editing, colour, sound and any agreed visual effects turn the footage into the finished commercial. Set review stages and identify who consolidates feedback. Confirm which versions, languages, captions and final files are included in the scope.
TV commercials, digital advertising and social versions
Share your intended media placements early. A hero film may need shorter edits, vertical versions, different end frames or localised copy. A change in aspect ratio can affect how the scene is shot, so it is useful to know the version list before the shoot rather than after the first edit.
For campaigns involving several countries, our global production planning guide covers the relationship between markets, approvals and production decisions.
What affects commercial video production costs?
The creative approach, number of shoot days, cast, locations, travel, post-production and final versions all affect the estimate. Usage requirements also matter: identify the territories, media and period you need the work to cover.
Read our video production costs guide to prepare a comparable scope. A useful proposal explains what is included, what is optional and which assumptions could change the price.
Choosing a commercial production company
Look beyond a showreel to the individual projects and credits. Ask which parts of the work a team delivered, who the creative partners were and whether the approach is relevant to your own brief. A production credit and a local film-services credit describe different responsibilities; both can be valuable, but they should not be treated as interchangeable.
Our CEER launch campaign credits NaF+BrandFilms for production, with creative by Dentsu, The Creative Cartel and THEM AGAIN. Directors and editors G&L worked alongside director of photography Marc Karam and executive producer Sofia Panayiotaki. Watch the film and review the full credits to understand the work in context.
When comparing a TV commercial production company with other partners, also look at the proposed team, the production assumptions and the approval process. The right conversation is specific: what is already agreed, which decisions still need to be made, and who will make them?
Plan the versions before the camera rolls
The final commercial is often one part of a larger delivery list. A TV advert, online film and social cutdown may need distinct edits even when they use the same footage. Tell the production team which placements are confirmed and which remain optional.
For each version, record the following:
- Placement and audience: where the video content will appear and who should see it.
- Length and framing: the agreed duration and aspect ratio, including any different openings or end frames.
- Language and sound: voiceover, translated text, captions and sound-off viewing requirements.
- Market and usage: the territories, media and usage period that need to be considered.
- Delivery and approval: the recipient, technical specification, final approver and due date.
Our campaign delivery matrix gives each version its own row. It is a planning template; confirm current file specifications with the relevant platform, broadcaster or delivery partner. The production scope should state whether clearance, delivery services and media buying are included or handled by other partners.
Commercial production questions
What is commercial video production?
It is the process of making a film to advertise a brand, product or service. That can include creative development, pre-production, filming and post-production, depending on the agreed brief. A commercial may run on television, online or across several advertising placements. The intended use should shape the production from the start.
Can NaF+ work with our existing creative agency?
Yes. Bring your agency team, approved creative or work in progress to the conversation. We will discuss the production responsibilities and identify any additional development needed. Keeping creative ownership, client approvals and production responsibilities clear helps each team make the right decisions at the right stage.
How much does a TV commercial cost to produce?
A useful estimate needs the script or treatment, shoot requirements, deliverables and usage scope. The running time of a TV advert does not determine its production cost on its own. A short film can require a complex set, specialist crew or extensive visual effects. Share a working range so we can discuss feasible approaches; media placement costs should be identified separately.
Can one shoot support TV advertising and social media?
It can, when the creative and shot plan allow for both. Framing, on-screen text, the opening moments and the call to action may need to change between placements. Agree which elements can be shared and which require a dedicated shot or edit. That makes the relationship between the hero film and its shorter versions clear before production.
How long does the production process take?
Timing depends on the development still needed, cast and location availability, the shoot and the post-production requirements. Work backwards from the delivery date, allowing time for the actual review and approval stages. Share fixed dates early, including product availability and any market-specific launch requirements, so the schedule can be discussed against a real brief.
What is the difference between a commercial and a corporate video?
A commercial is made for an advertising brief. Corporate video production can cover company communications such as interviews, business stories or internal messages. The formats can overlap; the intended audience, placement and objective help define the project. Explore our broader video production services if your brief goes beyond a commercial campaign.
